Hello, welcome to Career Services. Career Services offers many valuable in person and online services that benefit you before you begin and during your enrollment. So here's how Career Services can help you.
Are you undecided about your major? Don't know what career is right for you, need to assess your interests and personality traits. Career Services can help. Career Services is for anyone at any age or stage of their career, who asked themselves the following questions: What should I major in? What can I do with a major in? Where should I transfer to after LCC? What's a resume? How do I look for a job? What will an employer ask me in an interview? And what should I do with the rest of my life? Assessment testing and exploration is the way to go. If you're undecided taking an assessment test can provide options that you may not have considered previously.
The college level examination program or CLEP test is a program that enables students to earn college credit for introductory level courses by achieving satisfactory scores on subject specific tests. So if you have knowledge in a specific subject, you can earn credit for that course, saving you both time and money. You can purchase tests online at clep.collegeboard.org. The exams are administered by the Career Services Department, so you can set up a testing appointment by calling 570-740-0456.
Some of our online resources include an exploration tab. This section allows you to complete that career assessment, which is very vital, view day in the life videos on many different careers and research different careers. So studies show that college students who select the major that is in line with their personalities, earn higher grades, are more engaged in classes resulting in higher retention rates, are more likely to stick with their major and graduate on time, and are more satisfied and successful in their career. This is why taking an assessment test could really help you out. The preparation tab is where you go for help to create your employment documents, practice interviewing skills, and complete our online modules aimed at preparing you for your career. The communications tab allows you to improve your communication skills, which are needed to be successful in any career. The application tab is where our online job board is located. New opportunities are posted every week. So you could go here to look for full-time, part -time, summer jobs or even internships. We also have job search sites. So if you're used to just using Indeed, this could be a way to look for some new search engines to help you find a career. And we also have a career fair calendar.
Some other information on our site includes an upcoming events section. This list workshops and career events being offered. We also offer career fairs, hiring events, and any other event that we can to assist you in securing employment or internships. We have helpful websites arranged by category so a drop down menu will allow you to select the area in which you would like the sites.
